About Us

Young people are not beneficiaries, they are co-creators and leaders of change.

Who We Are

WILCAH exists to promote wellbeing among young people in Tanzania through evidence-based, community-driven interventions.

Why we exist

Young people face increasing pressures that affect their wellbeing, learning, and livelihoods. Without early support and the right environments, these challenges often escalate. Prevention, early support and strong ecosystems can change this.

Our Approach

Community ownership and meaningful youth engagement are the foundation of our work. We strengthen mental health systems by combining:

• Evidence-informed strategies grounded in lived experience

• Youth leadership and community ownership embedded across all interventions

• Multi-level partnerships that align community action with institutional and policy change to build mental health ecosystems that are accessible, relevant, and sustainable.

Our Story

We founded WILCAH driven by an unwavering commitment to serving our fellow youth and the overarching purpose of advancing mental health and well-being among young people by fostering resilience, support, and a positive culture.

WILCAH is a registered grassroots women and youth-led NGO based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

At WILCAH, we believe young people should be active participants regarding the policies, services, and programs that impact their health and development.

Channeling the wisdom of an ancient proverb: 'Tell me, I forget. Show me, I remember. Involve me, I understand.'
